Overview
We are looking for a Mid-level Data Scientist who will support client acquisition program personnel with insights gained from analyzing information technology (IT) service and IT network performance requirements, performance data, and scorecard information. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for service delivery and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building, and implementing models, creating/using algorithms, and creating/running simulations. They must have the ability to gather and present the data-based insights that would serve as a foundation for business and technical recommendations. They must be comfortable working with a wide range functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with functional team members and other senior data scientists to stakeholders to improve business outcomes.
Required Skill Set
The Mid-level Data Scientist we are looking for shall have experience and demonstrated the ability to:
- Collect, aggregate, analyze, visualize, report, and monitor data science products
- Use processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
- Work collaboratively with functional team members to identify opportunities for leveraging use of data to drive IT service management solutions
- Mine data from databases
- Develop customer-focused data models and algorithms
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, service quality generation, and other technical and business outcomes
- Coordinate with different functional teams to monitor outcomes
- Utilize statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Work with data architectures
- Leverage a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Leverage advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
- Communicate concisely and persuasively to and with technical and business
- Recommend data science solutions
Job Responsibilities
- Perform trend analyses of Government-defined service level requirements (SLR), key performance parameters (KPPs), key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Assist in the development of performance trending and in the analysis of Government-defined KPIs and critical success factors (CSFs)
- Recommend new business models, organizational strategies, and domain-specific knowledge
- Facilitate functional team buy-in and acceptance of organizational dashboards useful for collecting and reporting performance measurements
- Develop appropriate internal performance measurement policy documents and ensure adherence with appropriate higher-level policy and guidance
- Support process maturity assessments, schedule development, and overall program health reporting utilizing balanced scorecard methodologies
- Support organizational change management activities, to include strategies to assist with organizational culture change, operational infrastructure change, or changes in internal processes
- Provide recommendations on matters related to the end-user community
- Develop communication products, change management and internal communication plans and supporting materials
- Conduct change readiness assessments, evaluate results, present findings, and make recommendations
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field (or Associate degree plus four years relevant experience, or six years relevant experience)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models (or Master’s degree)
- Has relevant certification(s) associated with knowledge and experience in the following:
- Coding knowledge and experience with several languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
- Statistical and data mining techniques (e.g., GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis)
- Querying databases and using statistical computer languages (e.g., R, Python, SLQ)
- Using web services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Spark, DigitalOcean)
- Analyzing data from 3rd party providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights)
- Distributed data/computing tools (e.g., Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL)
- Data visualization/presentation using software tools and applications like Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot, etc…
