Overview
We are looking for a Junior Information Technology (IT) Specialist who will support the work of company Data Scientists by developing and maintaining conceptual and functional alignment between IT systems, products, services, their corresponding performance measures, and customer concerns. The ideal candidate is adept at learning and understanding IT systems, products, and services. They must be confident researching, benchmarking, and communicating the cause and effect between IT systems and the way they perform. They must be comfortable tracking data and working in the field to understand IT hardware systems and software. They must have the ability to audit system behavior that is directly germane to customer pain points. The right candidate will have a strong desire to maintain and improve the IT technical systems as required to support IT service delivery process optimization.
Required Skill Set
The Junior IT Specialist we seek shall have the ability to:
- Communicate effectively with Data Scientists and users of the IT systems being assessed
- Apply good organization, problem-solving, time management, and active listening skills
- Analyze software and hardware issues
- Recommend improvements to the IT technical systems in alignment with performance measures and customer concerns
- Provide excellent customer service with keen attention to detail
- Troubleshoot and solve problems with perseverance and integrity
- Document their findings and recommendations
Job Responsibilities
- Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of IT systems
- Review and recommend applicability to cybersecurity policies and protocols
- Support Data Scientists in the development of internal processes and tools
- Monitor security certificates and compliance to requirements
- Offer technical assistance to Data Scientists in support of client requirements
- Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Business (or an Associate degree plus four years of relevant work experience, or Six years of relevant work experience)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- 1 to 2 years relevant work or internship experience installing and updating software/hardware and providing technical support for users of IT systems
- Relevant field experience, certifications, or knowledge
- Knowledge of modern IT hardware (networks, storage, compute)
- Knowledge of modern IT virtualization principles
- Knowledge of cloud technology infrastructure
- Knowledge of existing and emerging networking technologies
